Sheboygan Children’s Book Fest to Feature Dean Robbins, Lori Degman, Joe Wos and Megan Padalecki
SHEBOYGAN (May 3 2017) — Sheboygan County Reads!, the non-profit organization which promotes the love of books and reading among local youngsters, has revealed four more presenters for the 2017 Sheboygan Children’s Book Festival. The book festival, set to take place October 13-15, will include Dean Robbins, Lori Degman, Joe Wos and Megan Padalecki.
Robbins is the picture book author of Two Friends: Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass, Miss Paul and the President: The Creative Campaign for Women’s Right to Vote and Margaret and the Moon: How Margaret Hamilton Saved the First Lunar Landing. Miss Paul and the President was chosen for the 2017 List of Notable Social Studies Trade Books for Young People, and Margaret and the Moon was chosen as a Junior Library Guild selection.
Degman was the 2010 winner of the Cheerios New Author Contest for her picture book 1 Zany Zoo. The book went on to be an Illinois Reads featured title and a South Carolina Picture Book Award Nominee. She also is the author of Cock-a-Doodle Oops!, an International Literacy Association Honor Book, and Norbert’s Big Dream published in 2016. Degman teaches deaf and hard-of-hearing students and has a master’s degree in early childhood education.
Wos is a professional cartoonist and is regarded as a master maze maker. He created the world’s largest hand-drawn maze, measuring at 140 square feet. Wos has created several books featuring his mazes for kids: A-Maze-ing Animals and Myths and Monsters. Wos is also a writer and pop culture historian. He is the co-author of An Animation Celebration: The Top 100 Animated TV Characters.
Padalecki is the author, illustrator and publisher of the picture books Little Moon and Big Mo. She received a degree in architecture from the University of Texas at Austin and she applies these design skills to create children’s stories.
Dean Robbins, Lori Degman, Joe Wos and Megan Padalecki will appear along with the previously announced Kevin Henkes, Laura Dronzek, Eugene Yelchin, Barney Saltzberg, Sara Pennypacker, Juana Medina, Rebecca Kai Dotlich and Mike Lowery.
