2017 Sheboygan Children & Teen’s Book Festival Returns this Fall with Fun Twists & Turns

SHEBOYGAN (October 3, 2017) — Wisconsin’s only free children and teen’s book festival returns to Bookworm Gardens, Mead Public Library, the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, and the Weill Center in Sheboygan, Wis. on October 13-15.

This three-day children and teen’s book festival provides an opportunity for area youth and their families to explore and discover stories by interacting with the authors and illustrators who create them.

Events taking place throughout the weekend include author readings, art making with illustrators, writing workshops, costumed book characters, book signings, a bedtime pajama concert, a magic show, and author trading cards.

Headlining this year’s event is New York Times bestselling author and illustrator Kevin Henkes. Henkes received the Caldecott Medal for Kitten’s First Full Moon, the Caldecott Honor for Waiting and Owen, and Newbery Honors for The Year of Billy Miller and Olive’s Ocean

His wife and picture book collaborator, Laura Dronzek, will join him and these fellow authors and illustrators at the festival: Sara Pennypacker, Eugene Yelchin, Rebecca Kai Dotlich, Barney Saltzberg, Lori Degman, Dean Robbins, Juana Medina, Mike Lowery, Megan Padalecki, Joe Wos, John Corey Whaley, Julie Halpern, and M.K. Wiseman.

The festival’s special events feature a bedtime pajama and concert sing-along with Barney Saltzberg at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center on Friday October 13, a magic show by Rondini the Magician at the Weill Center on Sunday, October 15, and multiple opportunities throughout the weekend to meet and greet costumed characters Lilly, Rainbow Fish, and Peter Rabbit.
