Sheboygan Children’s and Teen’s Book Fest to Feature Eugene Yelchin, Barney Saltzberg and Sara Pennypacker
Sheboygan (March 29, 2017) — Sheboygan County Reads!, the non-profit organization which promotes the love of books and reading among local youngsters, has revealed three more presenters for the 2017 Sheboygan Children’s and Teen’s Book Festival. The book festival, set to take place October 13-15, will include Eugene Yelchin, Barney Saltzberg and Sara Pennypacker.
Winner of the Newbery Honor Award for Breaking Stalin’s Nose, Eugene Yelchin is the author and illustrator of picture books and novels for middle grade children. He is the 2017 Golden Kite Award winner for his middle grade novel, The Haunting of Falcon House. He is also the illustrator of many acclaimed picture books, including The Rooster Who Would Not Be Quiet! by Carmen Agra Deedy and Seven Hungry Babies by Candace Fleming.
Boasting a career as an author, illustrator, singer, teacher, and songwriter, Barney Saltzberg has written and illustrated over 40 children's books, including Crazy Hair Day, Beautiful Oops, and the bestselling Touch and Feel Kisses series. He has also recorded four children’s albums. Shari Lewis recorded his songs and he has written and produced songs for the PBS show Arthur. As part of his appearance at the Children’s Book Festival, Saltzberg will perform at a special bedtime concert for children.
Sara Pennypacker is the author of Pax, which has been on the NY Times Bestseller list for 54 weeks now. She is also the author of the popular and acclaimed Clementine book series, the Waylon book series, and she has contributed to the famous Flat Stanley series. Her books have received many state awards, as well as a Boston Globe/Horn Book Honor, a Golden Kite Award and a Christopher’s Medal and they have appeared on numerous media and library Best Books of the Year lists.
Eugene Yelchin, Barney Saltzberg and Sara Pennypacker will appear along with the previously announced Kevin Henkes and Laura Dronzek.
